Description
Etched along its cream colored center with different birds and finished on top and bottom with polychrome, reoccurring painted patterns, this impressive vase out of Mata Ortiz, Mexico, was handmade by potter Martin Olivas. The center of the vase is deeply etched with a quall, hummingbird and flower, and roadrunner, all surrounded by additional etched, swirling patterns including steps, feathers and fine lines. Top and bottom of the piece are painted in red, black and cream in concentric circles comprising feathers, diagonal rectangles, lightning, triangles, and fine lines. 14 3/4″ tall with ring x 7 1/2″ wide. 13″ tall without pottery ring.
