Description
Turquoise, coral, lapis, jet and white mother of pearl combine to form a traditional inlay thunderbird in this impressive bolo tie by Zuni silversmith Delwin Gasper. The thunderbird’s body faces forward, wings outstretched and head on a profile, with the head inlaid in white mother of pearl and jet and featuring a turquoise beak and coral and jet feather atop its head. Each of the thunderbird’s outstretched wings is inlaid in geometric patterns in jet, turquoise, coral, white mother of pearl and lapis, while its triangular body features white mother of pearl, jet and turquoise. Tail feathers are inlaid in turquoise, coral, lapis, white mother of pearl and jet, with sterling rope patterns accenting the top of the wings and sterling dots finishing the tail feathers, body and head. Additional inlay is showcased at the bottom of each sterling silver tip, with panels mimicking the bird’s tail feathers above and inlaid in the same stones. 2 1/2″ long x 2″ wide. Bolo measures 24″ from top to bottom.
