Description
Carved from a thick piece of off-white obsidian with faint blue striations, this adorable fetish by Zuni carver Cheryl Beyuka depicts a rabbit. The rabbit stands on its hind legs, both hands resting along its stomach, with its ears pinned back behind it and eyes inlaid with jet. The rabbit is finished with a distinctive, round tail and etched whiskers on either side of its downturned mouth. In many Native American cultures rabbits are considered special guardians of women in childbirth and assure long lives for children. 2 1/2″ tall x 1 3/8″ wide x 1 3/8″ deep.
