Description
Depicting a parrot, this incredible kachina doll was carved by hand by Hopi artist Lauren Honyouti. The parrot stands atop a thick, round base painted in step patterns in various colors including yellow, red, and turquoise. One of its legs is lifted and shifted slightly forward, as if taking a step, while the parrot holds a rattle in one hand and a flower in the other. Turquoise necklaces are carved around its neck, while an additional and very intricate parrot is carved atop its head, its bright feathers extending backward and away from the larger parrot. Both parrots are painted in yellow, turquoise, and red accents along feathers and bodies, while a garment surrounds the larger parrot’s waist, painted in the aforementioned colors, as well as green, black and white. 13 1/2″ tall x 4″ wide x 4 1/2″ deep.
