Description
Expertly handmade, this stunning, contemporary necklace by Navajo silversmith Tom Lewis mimics the style of a squash blossom necklace but rather than blossoms and a naja, features one large and several smaller brushed sterling silver medallions, the large centerpiece also featuring tear drop shaped turquoise pieces. Eight sterling silver medallions, four on each side, are set along the necklace’s double sterling silver pearl strands, the medallions comprising one larger round panel and one smaller soldered to the top, creating a tiered effect. These medallions all showcase stamped lines in between smooth tear drop shapes, creating texture and dimension. The piece’s centerpiece, another round medallion, larger, but mimicking those along the necklace’s strands, also features 11 tear drop shaped turquoise stones along its edges, each set in simple sterling silver bezels and separated by applique sterling star patterns. Stones vary blue to green in color and contain portions of brown and golden matrix. The necklace’s double sterling silver pearl strands merge into a single strand on each side about 3/4 of the way toward each end. Center medallion measures 2 1/2″ diameter. Necklace measures 23 1/4″ from end to end, not including medallion length. Total necklace length is 25 3/4″. Necklace is finished with a hook and eye closure.
