Description
Created by hand by Navajo artist Victor Abeita, this fun kachina doll depicts a sunface. The large piece showcases a round face painted in red, turquoise, and yellow with black and white accents, its entirety surrounded by black feathers. The sunface holds feathers in each hand; in one, only brown feathers and in the other, black and red, while its waist and lower half are surrounded by black and brown felt, the bottom half painted in red, yellow and turquoise designs. Fur surrounds the sunface’s wrists and ankles and runs down the back of its head and long its back, and the sunface lifts one foot up, as if taking a step forward. The sunface kachina is said to bring warmth and shelter for the elderly, and provide a bright future for the young. 16″ tall x 7 1/2″ wide x 5″ deep.
