Description
Showcasing the traditional Acoma rain bird (parrot) along with various traditional weather and feather patterns, this delicate jar, smaller in stature than many pieces out of Acoma, was handmade by Marie Juanico. The piece features a black painted rim which gives way to two panels along its white body, both painted with orange, red, black and white parrots. The panels are separated by hand painted designs including feathers, clouds and rain in black and red. Parrots are birds believed to have led the Acoma people to water, and they are revered within the culture. 4 3/4″ tall x 5″ wide.
