Description
A large, seated woman rests with her legs outstretched and three children in her lap in this traditional storyteller figurine by Jemez potter Chrislyn Fragua. The woman’s mouth is open and cheeks are rosy, with her arms placed down by her sides. Two girls and one boy sit in between her arms on her lap, with the girl at the bottom holding on to a large basket. Each of the children also feature open mouths and expressive eyes, and the shawl draped over the woman’s head encases all four figured and is painted in step and zigzag patterns in black, grey, red, and buff. 5 1/4″ tall x 3″ wide x 4 3/4″ deep.
