Description
A woman stands tall and is surrounded by eight children in this large, handmade and hand painted storyteller figurine by Jemez potter Diane Lucero. The woman’s head is tilted slightly upward, her mouth open and cheeks rosy, while a shawl is draped over her head and flows down her shoulders and back. She holds four children in her arms: a swaddled baby and three larger children, one holding a book and one holding a drum. Four more children stand around her feet, two covered partially by her clothing off to one side, and two at her front, one with hands top their head and the other holding a drum. A basket rests along the woman’s side opposite the children, while all children are accented in buff, red and black, and the woman is painted in vibrant purple garments with black and grey accents. 10″ tall x 3 7/8″ wide x 4″ deep.
