Description
Handmade and hand painted by Jemez potter Mary Lucero, this traditional storyteller figurine features a seated woman flanked by four children. The woman rests with her legs outstretched, three children atop her lap and one flung over her shoulder. The child at the center of her lap holds a basket painted in blue, black and white along the inside, while the other two children hold on to each of the woman’s hands. The woman’s head and fourth child are covered by a gorgeous shawl, its border painted in a unique blue rarely seen on storytellers, featuring patterns painted in black and white. Each of the children smile, while the woman’s mouth is open, eyes are expressive and cheeks are rosy. 5 3/8″ tall x 3 1/2″ wide x 4 1/4″ deep.
