Description
Two children rest on the lap of a seated woman along with a basket of corn in this beautiful, traditional storyteller figurine by Jemez potter Mary Lucero. The woman rests with her legs crossed, the basket at the center of her lap and one child sitting on each side of it. The basket holds three ears of corn, a necklace and a blanket, the necklace matching that which hangs around the woman’s neck. The woman’s head is tilted slightly upward, her eyes expressive, cheeks rosy and mouth open. A shawl rests over her shoulders, buff and red in color and painted with black designs on one side. 4 3/4″ tall x 4″ wide x 4 1/2″ deep.
