Description
Three children stand upon the lap of a seated woman in this traditional storyteller figurine by Jemez potter Vernida Toya. The children stand in a single row, a girl in between two boys, with one boy holding a small piece of pottery, one holding a drum, and the girl holding a basket. Each of the three children, along with the woman, showcase open mouths and wide eyes, while the woman’s hair is pulled up into a bun atop her head. Each figurine is painted in red, black and buff, the children with grey accents in their hair and the woman with a corn stalk painted along the back of her shawl. 4 5/8″ tall x 3 1/2″ wide x 2 1/2″ deep.
