Description
Showcasing hand painted weather patterns in black, orange, red, and white, this stunning, traditional Acoma jar was created by potter Loretta Joe. The piece showcases a rim painted entirely black and base entirely orange, while in between, several reoccurring weather patterns including clouds and rain are painted. A row of triangles on their sides surrounds the portion of the piece just below the rim, which gives way to reoccurring diamond designs painted in orange, encasing additional diamond and triangle patterns. Weather patterns are quite common among Pueblo pottery, as rain gives way to crops and sustenance. 7 1/2″ tall x 8 1/2″ wide.
